McDonald’s, the fast-food giant we all know and love, has a few tricks up its sleeve that might just leave you scratching your head in amazement.
With 68 million daily customers and a massive workforce of over 200,000, it’s always the talk of the town. Recently, former employee Michael Ryan spilled the beans in a viral video, unveiling the secret behind McDonald’s irresistible taste: “science.
Join us as we unveil five new secrets about McDonald’s food that might just surprise you.
1.The magical straw
Although you may not have noticed, McDonald’s straws are somewhat wider than those of most other fast-food restaurants. Ryan explains why this is so: “It lets more carbonation hit your tongue and makes the soda taste better.”
The diameter of a McDonald’s straw is.284 inches, while a conventional straw is 0.13 inches.
2.Fill it out
When it comes to flavor, McDonald’s takes each and every one of its menu items very seriously. Ryan claims that the grilled chicken is moist and tasty because it has been injected with a saltwater combination using a popular process known as plumping.
3. Exclusive Coke
According to Ryan, McDonald’s commissions Coca-Cola for a secret syrup mix that sweetens and flavours their Coke. And it appears that the crisp, fresh flavour of a Coke at the chain has something to do with water filtration and the syrup’s special refrigeration to help preserve the contents.
Customers notice the change regardless of the explanation. “McDonald’s Diet Coke just hits so much differently,” one TikTok user observed.
4.Whipped to perfection
McDonald’s soft serve is creamy and delicious. Ryan attributes this to the chain’s use of whole whipping cream and rigorous cleaning of the ice cream machines once a week.
While a lovely, clean machine is something to praise, it’s also possible that maintenance is one of the reasons consumers frequently can’t get a McFlurry.
5.Golden Nugget
There must be a reason why McDonald’s chicken nuggets are better.
“Tyson actually makes their chicken nuggets,” claims Ryan. They’re created by Tyson and have a private label, but they’re actually not that processed.
Ryan is accurate. In 1979, McDonald’s hired Tyson Foods to develop the McNugget. According to Reader’s Digest, they are created with chicken meat that has been pressed into a mould so that it will cook more evenly.
