“Taylor Swift’s song from 2008, where she talks about Joe Jonas trying to portray himself as the good guy after their breakup, has become relevant again due to his divorce from Sophie Turner.”

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s divorce after four years of marriage is now one of the most-talked topics surfing through the internet. Joe even filed divorce from Sophie on Tuesday. Later on Wednesday, the two acknowledged the news in a joint Instagram message, insisting that the choice was mutual and amicable.

“We sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” the message said. Despite this request, and the fact that they have managed to keep their relationship largely quiet since they began dating in 2016, the same cannot be said about the divorce.

According to sources, Joe has been caring for his and Sophie’s two girls, aged three and one, for the past three months. It’s important to mention that Sophie was in her own country, the United Kingdom, for employment at the time. It was then alleged that their split was due to their opposing lifestyles, with sources telling TMZ that Joe loves to stay at home while Sophie wants to party.

It hasn’t taken long for pop culture fans to make reference to the songs Taylor Swift is thought to have written about Joe during their brief romance in 2008.This three-month affair is arguably most known for allegedly ending with a 25-second phone conversation, which Taylor revealed in a now-infamous appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

At the time, she told her host, “When I find the right person for me, he’ll be wonderful.” And I’m not even going to be able to recall the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18 when I look at that person.” And, while Taylor hardly verifies the topics of her songs, it is commonly assumed that “Forever & Always,” along with “Last Kiss” and “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” is about Joe.

Taylor implies in them that Joe essentially love-bombed her when they first met, even dropping the l-word early on. She describes the musician as “the life of the party” and recalls falling for him due to his confidence and charm. But everything changed when Joe ghosted Taylor before eventually dumping her.

“Mr. Perfectly Fine” is the only song that has been verified to be about Joe, with Sophie herself cheekily writing about it on social media. The song was published as a vault track on Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April 2021, indicating that Taylor composed it for her 2008 album but it didn’t make the final cut.
